2nd General Assembly of the Consortium
27-28 May 2025
The second General Assembly of the WarP-AHSS consortium took place at the Group Innovation Centre of Volkswagen in Wolfsburg, Germany during 27-28 May 2025. Each partner presented their work and the future plan of their work. The manufacturing of the material in pilot-scale was also discussed. The consortium reviewed the progress of the project and decided on the next steps.
A trip was also arranged to the car manufacturing facilities where the consortium members could get an idea about the automobile manufacturing route from blanking of the sheets till dispatch of the cars. This experience was valuable to the partners since the WarP-AHSS project aims to develop two high-performing steel grades for use in the automobiles.
1st General Assembly of the Consortium
5-6 November 2024
The WarP-AHSS consortium convened for two days (5-6 November 2024) at Tata Steel Nederland to discuss the results and review the progress. Also, the consortium members visited a few factories of Tata Steel which are relevant to the project (one hot strip mill, one cold strip mill and continuous annealing lines) to gain experience about the production process at large scale.
In addition, they visited also some of the laboratory facilities of Tata Steel R&D which are heavily used in the project (such as casting, rolling, rapid alloy development lab., hot-dip annealing simulator, microstructure characterisation lab. and material testing lab. at the Innovation Centre).
Coordinator’s Visit to RWTH Aachen University
11-12 April 2024
Radhakanta Rana, the coordinator of the project travelled to RWTH Aachen University in Germany to visit the Steel Institute (IEHK) which is partner in the WarP-AHSS project and the Forming Institute (IBF) where the rolling of the pilot-scale material from the project will take place.
He held technical meetings with the researchers at the Steel Institute to chalk out the research plan of the project for the coming period. He also got acquainted with the researchers at the Forming Institute and learned the capabilities of their hot and cold rolling mills. On the topic of the project, he gave a talk at the Steel Institute with the researchers and students in the audience.
Coordinator’s visit to
CENIM-CSIC
3-5 December 2023
The coordinator of the WarP-AHSS project, Radhakanta Rana, visited CENIM-CSIC, one of the partners of the project, in Madrid, Spain. During this two days visit, apart from other technical discussions with the colleagues at CENIM-CSIC, he convened a Teams meeting between the colleagues of CENIM-CSIC and RWTH Aachen, another partner in the project, to discuss the strategy of the theoretical alloy design.
Also, he held a seminar on the theme of the WarP-AHSS project with all the Physical Metallurgy colleagues of CSNIM-CSIC and research students in audience. He was also given tour to the research facilities of CENIM-CSIC to get an idea about the instruments/apparatus which will be used in the project.
